Maiden Signs 10 Year Contract

Billboard Outdoor advertising specialist, Maiden Group, has successfully signed a 10-year outdoor advertising contract with retail property developer Land Lease, with advertising revenues expected to reach £22.5 million.

The contract covers retail centres at Bluewater in Kent, Touchwood in Solihull, Overgate in Dundee and Golden Square in Warrington. The contract renewal was handled on behalf of Lend Lease by The Outdoor Media Consultuancy.

Commenting on the new contract, David Pugh, managing director of Maiden said: “Maiden has established a strong position in the retail arena and we have re-signed the contract with Land Lease on extended terms.”

He continued: “There is considerable outdoor advertising at the point of sale and we will be launching new formats and designs with Lend Lease. This latest contract follows our success in renewing major rail contract in the last year.”

At the beginning of the year, Maiden issued an upbeat trading statement for 2004, revealing a strong financial performance for the company during 2004, despite under performing in their outdoor billboard division (see Maiden Up Despite Dented Billboard Advertising).

Excellent progress was made in the company’s rail division, with 89% of the total rail universe in terms of revenue being re-won, including Network Rail and all the largest train operating companies. Despite the rail re-tendering process carried out by Maiden in 2004, which took up a considerable amount of management time, rail advertising grew strongly in the period ending 31 December 2004.
