Uncut Celebrates 100th Issue And Circulation Success

Uncut Front Cover IPC’s film and music magazine, Uncut is celebrating its one hundredth issue and its highest circulation ever, with a star studded party over a three night residency at London’s 100 Club next month.

Music acts involved include, Sons & Daughters, Adem, James Yorkston and Kaythryn Williams, with the gigs kicking off celebrations on the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of the first week in August.

Commenting on the talent playing, Allan Jones, editor of Uncut said: “These artists represent some of the finest contemporary talent at work in the UK today. From Anglo-American adventures The Earlies, to great new talent like Amusement Parks on Fire and Sons & Daughters, plus intimate singer-songwriters of the calibre of Ed Harcourt and Kathryn Williams, the line-up for these celebratory gigs is impeccable.”

Andrew Sumner, publisher of Uncut added: “Uncut is hands down the most authoritative music magazine in the UK. Every month we celebrate the very best in rock – old and new, cult and classic. To reach the milestone of 100 top-quality issues is reason enough for a party; to host these fantastic artists across three nights in such a special venue is, quite simply, a rare pleasure.”

The 100 Club is one of the most famous live music venues in Europe, with a rich musical heritage stretching back over 60 years. The Sex Pistols, The Rolling Stones, Oasis, The Clash, The Yardbirds and Roxy Music are just a very few of the names to have graced its stage over the years.

Earlier this year Uncut signed a six month sponsorship deal with classic movie channel, TCM, marking a first for the broadcaster in working with the magazine to screen uncut films for the first time.

The sponsorship deal, which saw The Uncut Film inserted into TCM’s schedule, underlined the magazine’s commitment to quality film and included endorsement and recommendations from the publication (see IPC Signs Uncut Screening Deal With TCM).

The latest round of ABC data showed Uncut increasing its sales by 2.6% year on year, pushing its total circulation to just over 114,000. The rise was one of only a handful in the music sector, and served to comfort IPC against the 3.5% circulation decline felt by its long-running music weekly, NME, in the same period.

Uncut is currently the second highest selling music magazine in Britain, topped only by Emap Performance’s Q, with a circulation of 162,574.
