Xfm Secures Landmark Music Coverage For Scotland

Xfm Logo GCap Media’s indie music network, Xfm, has secured the broadcast rights to one of the year’s most anticipated concerts, Fatboy Slim’s first gig in Scotland for eight years, due to take place on 24 June at Loch Ness.

The indie network, which includes a station in London, and recently launched in Scotland and Manchester, will reach 1.5 million listeners in the UK with its broadcast, which will also air on DAB digital radio and via Sky.

GCap expects to “create a bidding war” with the event, as advertisers struggle for prime slots throughout the day.

Stuart Duncan, marketing and operations controller for Xfm Scotland, said: “XFM has stuck to its guns, playing alternative music on daytime commercial radio and we think it’s fair to say that the strategy is really paying off. The Fatboy Slim partnership really is the icing on the cake in what has been a tremendous four months since we hit the airwaves at the beginning of the year.

“Not only will this event have tremendous audience reach both on the day itself and during pre-promotion, but it will also allow advertisers to align themselves with one of the world’s most famous DJs. We are delighted that our advertisers will reap the benefits as a result.”

The landmark event is expected to attract over 20,000 music lovers to the banks of Loch Ness. A line up of superstar DJs and special guests, including Carl Cox, Mylo, Xfm Scotland’s MASH and Scottish dance legends Slam, will also feature in the Midsummer’s Day event.
