ITV Football Clashes With BBC

Arsenal Win Champions' League Semi ITV’s coverage of the Champions’ League semi-final between Arsenal and Villarreal saw the broadcaster duelling with BBC One for the top spot last night, trading blows with the corporation’s medical drama Holby City, which narrowly topped the football’s average audience.

Just over 5.7 million adults tuned in to Holby City on BBC One, delivering a 28.04% share, while 5.6 million watched the Champions’ League match on average to give ITV a 27.52% share.

Elsewhere, Channel 4 topped the 2 million mark with property programme, Kirstie And Phil – Where Best To Invest. The show recorded the broadcaster’s largest adult audience of the evening, with viewing trailing off for subsequent programme, That’ll Teach Em, before rising slightly with Michael Carroll – King Of Chavs.

Five’s best performance came with a double bill of the CSI series, with CSI:Crime Scene Investigation notching up 2.8 million on average, before CSI:Miami drew 2.5 million in the following hour.
