GCap Poaches DMGT’s Muller For Capital Role

Capital Radio Logo Radio giant GCap Media has appointed Scott Muller, programme director of DMGT Australia’s Nova 969, as its new programme director for flagship station Capital Radio.

The move sees Muller replace former programme director Nik Goodman, who stepped down from the position last week, along with managing director Keith Pringle, in what was described as a “mutual” descision with GCap (see Capital Radio Loses Execs In Reshuffle).

Earlier this year saw GCap rebrand Capital Radio from 95.8 Capital FM, shifting the station to a new programming structure, and changing its music policy to offer less repetition and fewer advertisements (see Capital Radio Returns Following Rebrand).

The changes have seen a warm welcome from advertisers, according to the broadcaster, although Capital continues to conduct extensive listener research to guage their response, and find new ways to attract listeners.

Muller will join Capital Radio this summer, taking immediate responsibility the next stage of the station’s drive toward listener growth.

Welcoming the appointment, GCap’s operations director Steve Orchard said:”While we are encouraged by the progress we have made since January and are receiving positive listener feedback, there is still much to do at this critical time in order to attract new listeners. In Scott Muller, we are gaining a world class programmer with the specific skills and experience to help us take the station to the next level.”

Muller added: “London is the most vibrant and competitive radio market in the world and Capital Radio is at its core. Having taken Nova Sydney to the top spot in a similar market, I understand the challenges and opportunities that we will face and I am incredibly excited to be joining at what is a pivotal time in the station’s growth.”
