RAB Appoints New MD

RAB Logo The UK’s commercial radio representative body, the RadioCentre, has announced the appointment of Simon Redican as managing director of the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB).

Redican joins the organisation from News International where he was media account director of the Times solutions team. His appointment is seen as the next step in the overall re-energising of the RAB which will take place across the coming months and follows the recent appointment of well-known media figure Martina King as RAB non-executive chairman (see Martina King Appointed RAB Chairman).

Redican, who has many years experience in the media agency field, worked at The Media Shop as media planning director before moving to Carat UK as associate director, a position he held for five years. Redican then spent a number of years at Mediavest as head of radio and then head of planning. Prior to joining News International, he was sales director at ClassicFM.

Redican will report to Andrew Harrison, CEO, RadioCentre. “I am absolutely delighted that we have appointed Simon as the new MD of the RAB,” said Harrison. “He has spent most of his career in media planning; he loves radio and his knowledge and experience is a terrific complement to Martina’s digital background.”

Redican added: “I have always been a great fan of radio and I’m looking forward to joining Andrew and the rest of the RAB team to help deliver an exciting future for commercial radio in the digital age”.

It is expected that Redican will take up the role at the end of May.
