Xfm Unveils New DJ Line-Up

Xfm Logo Xfm London has announced that from Saturday 5th January 2008 Dave Berry will be joining as host of the Saturday afternoon show from 2pm – 6pm.

Berry first came to the public’s attention on MTV and has recently been working for T4.

In addition, Xfm Scotland’s Martin Bate will be taking over the reigns of the networked Xfm Rock Show every Sunday from 10pm – 1am. Bate has been at Xfm Scotland since its launch in January 2006 where he presents Scotland’s Music:Response Show.

Other changes to the Xfm London schedule are that Ian Camfield will be staying with the station to present a show called Import:Export on Sunday’s from 6pm – 9pm.

This will come live from the K Rock studios in New York and will be the best of what New York has to offer as well as an update on which British bands are making waves across the Atlantic. Jon Hillcock will also be taking over the Saturday night show full time from 9pm – 1am.

Xfm London’s programme director Adam Uytman, said: “Dave’s unique London charm and cheeky persona will be a great addition to the weekend line-up. His show will include great music, lots of humour, sporting updates – basically everything that you want on a Saturday afternoon.

“It is also fantastic news that we are retaining Ian Camfield as he is a very popular DJ and his show coming live from New York will add a whole new dimension – I think that the weekend schedule is looking great.”

Berry said: “I feel as if I have been out in a cold harsh musical wilderness and all of a sudden XFM have pressed my head into its ample bosom and now everything is warm and good again.”

Xfm’s programme director for the Network, Ande Macpherson, said: “Martin has been bringing Scotland a dose of the loud stuff for seven years and now the time is right to unleash him on the rest of the UK.

“The rock show has developed a big following over the past few years and I’m sure listeners will love Martin and his bag of rock which ranges from emo to screamo. One thing that is for sure the Xfm Rock Show will continue to finish off your weekend with a bang.”

The latest RAJAR figures, for Q3 2007, show that total Xfm (UK) saw its weekly reach increase by more than 4% year on year, giving it a total of almost 1.2 million listeners. However, this was down by around 0.5% compared to Q2 2007 (see BBC Radio 2 Boosts Weekly Reach To Over 13 Million Listeners Nation-Wide).
