Virgin Media Launches Broadband Outdoor Ad Campaign

Virgin Media Ad Virgin Media is launching a national outdoor advertising campaign for its new broadband service.

BlowUP media will supply a campaign of 11 of the sites across the major cities of the UK.

Virgin Media says that this will be the first multi-production outdoor campaign on such a scale and time frame, with three separate ads used through the 28-day campaign period to provide tease, reveal and finally branding stages.

The campaign will aim to establish Virgin Media (see Virgin Media Launches Today)as a brand following its merger with NTL:telewest (see NTL Confirms £962m Virgin Mobile Takeover) and launch the company as a major player in the broadband arena, challenging the current hold on the market of BT and AOL.

The posters have been bought and planned by Posterscope, with media planning by MGM.

There will be one banner in each of the following cities: London, Glasgow, Manchester, Southampton, Liverpool, Cardiff, Brighton, Bristol, Leeds, Edinburgh, Leicester and Nottingham.

According to Virgin Media, this makes it the largest banner campaign since Audi in May 2003.

Malcolm Brasseur, Managing Director of blowUP, comments: “Virgin’s decision to make a large investment in banners is a mark of the confidence clients have in the medium as the outstanding vehicle for branding and creating an impact with consumers.”
