JCDecaux Reveals Falling Revenues

Europe’s largest outdoor advertising contractor, JCDecaux has released half-year results showing a 0.9% decrease in advertising revenues.

Overall revenue growth for the first six months of 2002 came to 3.3% with street furniture generating growth of 3.9% to E413 million. Revenue from billboard units also increased by 1.4% to E202 million.

On the downside, revenues from the transport division fell 15.9% to E133 million. The sector, which includes airport advertising, is still struggling to overcome the fallout from September 11 and Decaux does not foresee a recovery until next year.

Nonetheless, co-ceo Jean-François Decaux expressed confidence that that the company would continue to “outperform both the advertising market as a whole and the outdoor advertising market.”
