Highbury House Sees Encouraging Trading, Despite Iraq Glitch

UK magazine publisher, Highbury House Communications, says that trading in the first quarter of the year has been encouraging, with profits ahead of last year.

The group says that the consumer portfolio is performing well, although difficult conditions remain in the business publishing market. However, a few business sectors have shown some improvement.

Trading figures for April are expected to disappoint slightly, most likely due to the muting effect of the war in Iraq. Highbury believes that this effect is temporary and unlikely to re-occur.

Future trading periods will benefit from the inclusion of Cabal Communications, which the group acquired for £8 million in April (see Highbury House Confirms Cabal Acquisition). The integration of Cabal is proceeding according to plan, according to Highbury.

The group says that its prospects for the rest of the year remain favourable.
