Aegis Furthers Digital Network

Media and communications group, Aegis has purchased French digital agencies Planete Interactive and Webcontents, planning to integrate then into its Isobar network.

The deal sees the two companies purchased for a total cash consideration of €9 million payable over three years and subject to strict performance conditions.

Planete Interactive and Webcontents merged early this year and will bring to Isobar a prestigious list of clients including Christian Dior, Pierre et Vacances, L’Oreal and PricewaterhouseCoopers as well as France Telecom, Michelin and the World Wildlife Fund.

Commenting on the deal, Robert Lerwill, chief executive officer of Aegis Group said: “Digital media is one of the most exciting areas we’re in today. With Isobar, we’re already ahead of the game in what we can do for our clients, and we’re continuing to expand our offer.”

He continued: “Planete Interactive and Webcontents are both high quality businesses that will help us do just that, and we’re pleased to bring them into Aegis.’

The latest business bought by Aegis was Hungary’s leading digital agency, Kirowski RT, for £10 million, strengthening the Group’s digital network, Isobar (see Aegis Extends Digital Reach In Europe).

Aegis is currently embroiled in industry speculation surrounding a possible take-over bid, with French entrepreneur and Havas chief executive, Vincent Bollore, increasing his stake in Aegis over recent weeks, raising it from 9% to 21.31% (see Bollore Continues Aegis Share Purchases).
