Global advertising company, WPP, has announced the promotion of Dave Allen to chief executive officer of Team Vodafone, and Simon Bolton to chief executive officer of Enterprise IG.

Bolton will start his new role in late January and will be responsible for maintaining Enterprise IG’s leading market position and growing the business in North America and the Asian region.

Commenting on his appointment, Craig Branigan, who runs the B to D Group within WPP, said: “Simon has the skills to motivate people and build businesses. He has a good knowledge of WPP and is very familiar with the US and Asian markets where the growth potential for Enterprise IG is huge.”

In respect to Allen’s promotion, Mark Reed, WPP’s director of strategy added: “Dave is one of the founding fathers of Enterprise IG. He is passionate about working with clients and already has close ties with Vodafone which will make for a smooth transition to his new role.”

WPP recently announced the purchase of Polish market research company, Pentor Instytut Badania Opinii i Rynku S.A, integrating the business into its global market research network, Research International (see WPP Extends Reach In Poland).

The move sees WPP continue its strategy of developing its networks in faster growing markets and sectors. The firm recently announced the acquisition of US marketing and interactive agency, Bridge Worldwide (see WPP Extends Online Healthcare Offerings).
