ITV Board Meets To Discuss Allen’s Successor

The board of ITV met yesterday to run through a list of potential candidates to become its chief executive.

According to a report in today’s Financial Times, the informal meeting ran through names believed to include Stephen Carter, head of Ofcom; Stewart Till, chief executive of United International Pictures; Michael Jackson, former head of Channel 4; and Richard Eyre, former chief executive of ITV networks.

The search for a replacement for Charles Allen has seen several names rule themselves out of the running for the job (see Another Candidate Pulls Out Of Race For ITV Top Job), whilst board members want a new chief executive in place before Christmas (see ITV Shareholders Want New CEO By Christmas).

The FT report quotes a media banker as saying that shareholders: “understand it’s very difficult to attract the right person to this job. Quite a lot of people who have looked at it are nervous about it.”
