Havas Announces Revenue Increase

Havas has announced that for the first time since 2001, its annual revenue was up in 2006 (0.6% organic growth and 0.8% natural growth).

Net income before tax remained virtually stable at €83 million, with operating income of €121 million versus €128 million in 2005.

There was a sharp rise in net new business in 2006, up to €1.9 billion from €1 billion in 2005.

Net debt stood at €382 million at December 31, 2006, down from €417 million at year-end 2005 and from €648 million at June 30, 2006.

Last week, Havas chairman Vincent Bollore failed once again in his bid to win representation on the Aegis board (see Bollore Fails Again In Aegis Board Bid).

Lord Sharman, chairman of Aegis, said: “Over 90% of independent shareholders have now rejected these proposals three times in ten months. They see Board representation for a direct competitor as an unacceptable conflict of interest. We hope that Groupe Bollore will come to respect this democratically expressed point of view.”
