Affluent Americans Have A Need For High Speed

Almost 30% of US households with incomes over $100,000 have access to broadband internet services at home, according to a new report from the Leichtman Research Group. A further 37% of households in this income group have expressed an interest in subscribing to broadband in future.

The study shows a clear correlation between household income and internet penetration. Only 15% of US households with incomes over $100,000 are not yet online, compared to 70% of households with incomes under $35,000. Only 4% of households in the lower income bracket have access to high speed internet services.

Only 40% of households earning between $35,000 and $50,000 have gone online and just 11% currently subscribe to a broadband service.
