Men Are Biggest Online Spenders, Says Survey

A new study has revealed that while women are more likely to shop online, men generally spend more on internet purchases, reports BBCi.

According to a survey, carried out by Taylor Nelson Sofres for the Bank of Scotland, 22% of female internet users in the UK have bought online, compared with 19% of males. However, while women spent an average of £70 a month online, men paid out £111 a month. CDs, videos and books remain the most popular internet purchases.

People in the 25-34 age group were most likely to shop online while those aged over 55 showed the most reluctance to do so. The highest spenders were 35-44 year olds who were shown to have spent an average of £130 a month.
