As of 2006, 63% of the US population aged 3 and over uses the internet at least once a month, according to new research from eMarketer.
Adults aged 50 and older make up an estimated 29.4% of the US population, according to eMarketer estimates based on Census Bureau data.
Women internet users total 92.6 million and 87.5 million US internet users are men. Women make up 51.4% of the US internet user population.
According to a recent report from The Media Audit, the percentage of working women that spent at least 430 minutes a week on the internet jumped from 48.6% in 2004 to 50.8% in 2005 (see Affluent US Women Increase Internet Purchases).
The eMarketer research shows that children are also keen users of the internet, with 40.1% of children aged 3 to 11 and 73.7% of youngsters aged 12 to 17 going online at least once a month.
Meanwhile, a research from Point Topic said that UK households with broadband will almost double, from 34% at the end of 2005, to 64% in 2008 (see 64% Of UK Households On Broadband By 2008).
