Four of the top five best-performing news sites reported a decline in traffic in June, with the Telegraph online hardest hit.
Down -17% over the month, the Telegraph’s online audience dropped by almost 810,000, making way for Trinity Mirror Nationals to jump up a place and become the third most popular news site in June.
In contrast, a small 3.6% increase netted the Guardian’s online platform an extra 267,000 average unique daily browsers in June to total almost 7.8 million, cementing its position as the nation’s second favourite news site.
MailOnline, which continues to dominate with a hefty audience of more than 13.6 million, was down -1.3% over the month, with 177,400 people clearly fed up of Kim Kardashian’s face.
Down -3.3%, the Independent lost 86,300 daily browsers to secure an average of almost 2.6 million a day.
Elsewhere, express.co.uk and dailystar.co.uk saw significant surges in traffic, up 22.5% and 32.6%, respectively, while Metro was up a modest 5%.
