ABC Regional Newspapers: July – Dec 2013
The latest ABC regional newspaper results, covering the July – December 2013 period, reveal an relatively stable picture for the top performing groups and titles.
In the top ten regional newspapers by circulation, the Rotherham Record saw the greatest increase in circulation, up 6% to an average circulation of over 63,500, while Milton Keynes Citizen was up 0.5% and Nottingham & Long Eaton Topper up 0.2%, maintaining the top spot with an average circulation of 148,000.
Down -3.8% for the period, the Wirral Globe lost almost 4,200 copies from its circulation, while Solihull News was down -3.4%.
In the top ten regional newspaper groups by circulation, the KM Extra Group was the only group to experience an increase, up 3.1% and adding an extra 4,600 copies to reach an average circulation of 151,400.
A significant -35.7% decrease for Newsquest Midlands South lost the group an average of 103,500 copies over the period, however since the last figures were reported, the group has lost three titles – going from eight to five.
The National remained at the top of the table with an average circulation of 1.3 million, despite declining by -4%.
The rest of the titles in the sector all recorded small losses or no change at all.
