Aegis Buys Irish Advertising Group

Media communications and publishing group, Aegis, has signed an agreement to purchase 100% of Brindley Media Group, bringing the Irish advertising firm into Aegis Media, the company’s global media buying and planning division.

The purchase price will be composed of an initial payment of €4m plus the value of the net assets and a deferred consideration up to a maximum total consideration of €12 million.

Commenting on the move, Robert Lerwill, chief executive officer of Aegis Group said: “The acquisition of Brindley Advertising will complement Aegis Media’s position in the Irish market, Brindley Advertising is a highly professional agency with a well regarded management team and I welcome them as part of the Aegis family.”

Brindley advertising brings a number prestigious clients into the Aegis fold, including the Irish Government Supplies Agency, The Combined Universities of Ireland, The Irish Aviation Authority, The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland and The Football Association of Ireland

In its trading statement published last month, Aegis, reported a 14% increase in revenue for the six months to June 30th, reaching £389.0 million, up from £338.9 million this time a year ago (see Aegis Reports 14% Increase In Revenues For First Half Of 2005).

Half-year profit for the group rose to £35.6 million from £35.4 million a year earlier, helped by strong growth in its market research business, Synovate which increased revenues by nearly 18%. Aegis’s digital network, Isobar, also enjoyed a healthy first half to the year, seeing revenues rise by 20%.
