Anderson Leaves Evening Standard For Sun

News International Logo News International has poached Mike Anderson from the Evening Standard to head up the Sun and News of the World, taking over from Camilla Rhodes.

The move sees Rhodes leave her role as managing director of News Group International to lead a venture into magazine publishing by News International.

Anderson was managing director at the Evening Standard for three years, before which he held the same position at the freesheet, Metro.

Earlier this summer, Richard Webb, general manager of News Group Newspapers, resigned after ten years in the company, as part of a reshuffle in the senior management team at Times Newspapers (see Webb Resigns From News International).

Webb will be replaced by Mike Gordon, commercial director for the group, while Clive Milner, managing director at TNL, will be broadening his role in the shake up, assuming the position of group managing director.

News International also recently announced a review of its media buying arrangements, inviting Carat, the incumbent agency who have worked on the NI account for almost a decade, to pitch for the business alongside other candidates (see News International Puts Buying Account Up For Grabs).

The agency chosen to deal with the NI account will need to handle a varied brief, focusing mainly on television and radio, but also incorporating all elements of the marketing mix including posters, online and planning.
