BBC World Service radio channels available on Nokia mobiles

Nokia Logo BBC World Service has signed a deal with Nokia which will see three of the BBC’s radio news channels available on Nokia handsets.

From today, BBC World Service, BBC World Service’s 24-hour rolling news channel and BBC Arabic will be on the newest Nokia mobile phone models as part of their preloaded internet radio application.

Karl Kathuria, head of digital delivery at BBC World Service, said: “For delivery over the internet radio platform, we are providing an MP3-format stream that can be picked up via Wi-Fi or through a mobile data connection, mirroring our online offer in these languages.

“This is the first time we’ve made our live 24-hour audio streams available specifically for a mobile platform, as part of our commitment to a multi-format strategy.”

Users can download the internet radio application from the Nokia website. It is also preloaded in selected Nokia S60 3rd edition devices.

The channels are available for live streaming 24 hours a day.
