BBC Worldwide Appoints US Head

BBC Worldwide Logo BBC Worldwide has appointed Garth Ancier, former senior executive of Fox, NBC and CNN, to the newly created post of president of its US division.

He will be responsible for all of BBC Worldwide’s US activity, including its DVD sales business. He will report to chief executive of BBC Worldwide, John Smith.

In addition, Ancier will oversee the introduction of BBC Worldwide’s web-based program delivery system, bbc.com, which is currently in the process of being approved.

Whilst at Turner Broadcasting Ancier was responsible for CNN, after which he worked for both Warner Brothers and NBC Entertainment.

The BBC’s American cable venture, BBC America, is currently available in 53 million US homes, and it is expected that the Corporation’s American arm will be launching further channels in the future.
