BlowUP Inflates Portfolio With MegaPoster Purchase

Giant poster contractor BlowUp Media has announced the purchase of rival banner specialist MegaPoster in a deal which gives the company a majority share of the giant poster market in the UK.

The move makes BlowUp the only large-format contractor with national coverage of the UK, enabling it to cater for clients with large advertising requirements and wide-reaching campaigns. However, the two businesses will be run as separate operations for the foreseeable future.

Commenting on the deal Malcolm Brasseur, managing director of BlowUP Media said: “By combining forces we will be able accelerate planned developments in our service levels and enhance the breadth and quality of our site portfolio: not least in the light of Megaposter’s recent win of the Edinburgh City Council banner contract.”

On the future of giant poster advertising, Brasseur added: “Site investment, establishing planning consent frameworks and service levels are key to continuing to drive this fast changing and competitive sector forward; we look forward to doing so with even more vigour than before.”

Megaposter will now be incorporated into BlowUp’s business, but will retain Keith Talbot as its managing director, reporting to Malcolm Brasseur. Explaining the management structure, Heinz Leuters, chief operating officer of BlowUP Media Group, stated: “I’m delighted that we are able to bring further investment and stability to this dynamic sector. I have every confidence that Malcolm and Keith, with their proven track records, will be successful in continuing to drive our business forward.”

MegaPoster recently launched a series of specialised site packages to help advertisers capitalise on the seasonal boom in products associated with New Year’s resolutions. The packages comprise a total of 11 sites in ten major cities across the UK, with two in London and one each in Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Liverpool, Leeds, Bristol, Cardiff, Nottingham and Brighton (see MegaPoster Gears Up For New Year’s Resolutions).

The company has also created a Christmas package designed to provide advertisers with maximum exposure in the all-important pre-Christmas period, claiming that the 6-sheet market is virtually sold out for November and December, making it difficult to gain an outdoor presence in the main retail centres (see MegaPoster Launches Christmas Retail Pack).
