Broadband Net Access Set For Growth In US

Broadband cable internet access is expected to accelerate its growth following under-performance so far. In the US broadband is predicted to grow by six times to 32 million users by 2003, according to eMarketer. Full growth has been stalled so far in US after internet service providers (ISPs) struggled provide broadband services and the costs for those services available was prohibitively high. A similar pattern has emerged in the UK.

Cable modem access is currently leading digital subscriber line (DSL) services, but it is predicted that DSL will take the lead over cable access by 2003. The two delivery platforms will account for about 65% of all broadband usage.
