Faster internet connections and lowering prices will not be enough to induce the widespread adoption of broadband services in the UK, says a new report from PPAinteractive.
Oftel estimates that the UK now has over 600,000 broadband connections and there are more then 20,000 new connections every week. Cheap rates have undoubtedly contributed to this revolution but the PPAi warns that take-up will level off in time and providers will have to find other ways of enticing new users.
The report, commissioned by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Digital Content Forum (DCF), claims that a majority of consumers will want to see improvements in applications, services and particularly content before they commit to broadband.
