Channel 4 Unveils Spring Schedule

A Person Watching TV Channel 4 has announced its Spring 2007 schedule, which includes US imports, comedy and some home-grown drama.

The broadcaster will be airing Studio 60, the US show which fared rather badly Stateside (see US Imports – The Hits & Misses), starring Matthew Perry and Bradley Whitford, as well as the new Calista Flockhart vehicle Brothers and Sisters, which follows the trials and tribulations of the Californian Walker family.

Spring also sees the return of the hilarious comedy Peep Show, with Mitchell and Webb back on Channel 4 after their stint on BBC Two in the Mitchell And Webb Show

Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh also gets in on the action, with the premier of his first comedy film written for television.

As well as all that, there is the latest documentary from acclaimed director Molly Dineen, which examines the decimation of Britain’s traditional farming industry the return of documentary strand Cutting Edge.

John Simm’s welcome return to our screens as Vincent Van Gogh in The Yellow House and Bafta award winner Tony Marchant’s tale of two young soldiers in Iraq, The Mark of Cain, should also be well worth catching.

Tony Blair might be watching that with interest, and to mark the end of his time at the country’s rudder Channel 4 is screening a Blair-Brown season.

On Monday it was announced that Julian Bellamy, controller of BBC3, has returned to Channel 4 as head of programmes, whilst Kevin Lygo has been promoted to the new role of director of television and content (see Bellamy Returns To Channel 4).
