Dennis Launches Second Digital Only Magazine

Gizmo Dennis Publishing is to launch another digital only magazine in March, following on from the success of online lads’ mag, Monkey.

iGizmo will be a consumer technology digital magazine, which will launch on 11 March and be distributed as an email free of change.

Dennis says that iGizmo will take “the best elements of magazines, websites and broadcast… mixing them into a compelling ‘must-have’ showcase for consumer technology”.

The format will allow readers to view products in 360° perspectives, zoom in on details, watch video reviews and see the product in action, accompanied by text and video editorial.

Targeted at ABC1 men, aged 25-45, Dennis Publishing will initially bring into play its database of 1.5 million technology and lifestyle readers, with a higher than average disposable income and a registered interest in the market.

Dennis believes that the new offering will give advertisers rich media solutions with significant creative possibilities, click-through tracking and unprecedented potential for interaction.

Ross Burridge has been appointed editor of iGizmo, having worked at Dennis Publishing for five years on a number of titles. He has most recently worked as reviews editor at PC Pro, as well as being the author of the Ultimate Guide to HDTV and Home Entertainment. Ben Raworth, New Product Development editor in chief, will also be working across the title with the NPD team.

Burridge added: “We’re bringing an exciting mix of broadcast, online and print to readers desperately in need of clarity. By bringing products to life directly on the page, you no longer need to trawl the maze of websites and magazines to find out what’s really going on in the world of consumer technology.”

Monkey, which launched in November 2006 (see Dennis Launches New Online Lads Mag), posted an ABCe figure of just over 245,400 for January to June 2007, up by around 17% from the last reporting period (see ABC Results Jan-Jun 2007:Big Declines In Men’s Sector).

The latest ABC consumer magazine release comes out this Thursday, with NewsLine providing in-depth coverage of all the major sectors.
