Paul Keenan, chief executive of Emap Consumer Media, is to assume responsibility for all of Emap’s consumer facing businesses, including radio, magazines, TV, mobile, online and events, which Emap says will: “enable greater flexibility to respond to the rapidly changing media marketplace.”
“Paul’s new role will accelerate those initiatives and further increase cross-promotion, shared consumer insight, and talent development.”
In addition, Emap has also appointed Derek Carter, chief executive of Emap communications, the group’s business-to-business division, to the board.
Carter has been with Emap since 1978 and in 1989 became Managing Director of Emap Maclaren. In 1997 he became chief executive of Emap Communications, which brings together business magazines, trade exhibitions, conferences and information products.
Moloney said: “This appointment reflects the importance of B2B to Emap and the outstanding work Derek has done in reshaping Emap Communications into a broad based, media-neutral business information provider. Derek’s breadth and depth of experience in both operational matters and strategic thinking will be a great asset to the main board.”
He added: “Better coordination across Emap’s consumer media assets will allow us to develop more new products on different platforms, maintain the relevance and reach of existing brands and develop deeper strategic relationships with key advertisers and partners.
“Overall, these changes will facilitate swifter and better decision making across the group to harness our considerable resources.”
