Britain’s only dedicated gay radio station, Gaydar, is to partner with theme parks Alton Towers and Thorpe Park to offer exclusive thrill seeking weekends to listeners.
Gaydar Days at Thorpe Park on September 9 and at Alton Towers September 29 – October 1 will be crammed with top DJs, dance tents, VIP lounges and all of the parks’ regular thrill rides.
The events are intended to boost Gaydar’s profile, as well as providing a summer attraction to its existing listeners.
Tussauds Group’s Michael Aldridge explained the attraction of the co-operative promotion, stating: “It’s the perfect marriage of music, fun and entertainment. There is no other event like it in the UK and with so many different parties, as well as individuals excited about Gaydar Days, we aim to put on the best late summer event for the gay and lesbian community.”
David Muniz, commercial director of QSoft Consulting, owners of Gaydar.co.uk, added: “Alton Towers and Thorpe Park provide the ultimate entertainment and leisure destinations to host the first ever Gaydar Days events. Gaydar.co.uk is thrilled to be teaming up with The Tussauds Group, delivering the very best DJ line-ups, party essentials, and of course the most exciting white knuckle thrill rides in the UK, in what’s sure to be a massive hit with the UK gay & lesbian community.”
The theme park promotion follows a similar deal between Capital Radio and Thorpe Park, announced last month, which sees the leisure venue become the six-figure sponsor of the station’s drive time show, fronted by Richard Bacon (see Capital Signs Thorpe Park For Bacon Sponsorship).
