Daily Market
No daily newspaper recorded an increase in circulation in July, according to the latest ABC results, with the quality market posting the biggest declines.
The Guardian was down -6% period-on-period, dropping almost 9,600 copies. The Financial Times was also down -3.6% PoP, while The Times’ circulation declined by -1.8%.
Meanwhile, in the popular market, the Daily Mirror was down -2.4% PoP and the Daily Record down -1.4%.
The Sun performed the best out of all the dailies with a small -0.2% dent to its circulation.
Overall the daily market was down -1.1% over the period and -6.7% over the year.
Sunday Market
The Observer took the biggest hit in the Sunday market with a -7.4% circulation decline, followed by Sunday People (-4.4%) and the Sunday Times (-3.3%).
Daily Star Sunday, however, managed to increase its circulation by 3.7% over the period, adding an extra 9,300 copies.
Sunday Express also recorded a small 0.7% increase.
Overall the market was down -1.2% PoP and -10.9% YoY.
London Free Press
Circulation for London Evening Standard was down -1% compared with the previous month – a loss of 7,800 copies.
City A.M.’s circulation remained fairly flat over the period, with a -0.4% decline translating to a loss of a little less than 400 copies.
While Metro was down -0.6% PoP, its circulation increased 17% year-on-year, helping to boost the overall market by 6.2% over the year.
