Home Office Taps Hit40UK For Online Safety Campaign

Hit40UK Logo GCap Media’s networked music property, hit40uk, is to offer its first ever podcasts as part of a promotion with the Home Office to increase awareness of child protection on the internet.

The activity will see the Home Office’s Child Protection campaign promoted heavily through two hit40uk chart podcast shows, with listeners directed to the thinkuknow.co.uk website.

The Home Office intends to raise awareness of internet safety among 11-14 year olds through the campaign, which is managed through COI and will run on Sunday 19th and Sunday 26th February.

In addition to the podcast content, an advertorial will be hosted on the hit40uk website from Friday 17th February. The podcast will also be promoted live on air and in hit40uk’s weekly newsletters.

The deal was brokered by Helen Brown, senior planner buyer at digital agency i-level, and Michelle Faiman, interactive sales executive at GCap Media.

Explaining the suitability of podcasting for the campaign, Faiman said: “hit40uk provides the perfect environment to target 11-14 year olds and the podcast chart show is an effective medium to educate users about the importance of online safety”

Helen Brown added: “It was important that this campaign for the Home Office reaches 11-14 years olds in an engaging way and the association with the hit40uk programme enables us to achieve this.”
