i-vu Boosts Management To Grow Hair Salon Business

i-vu, provider of interactive television screens for some of the UK’s top hair salons, has announced the appointment of Morgan Partridge as the company’s new commercial manager, charged with building advertising revenue and expanding the firm’s sales team.

Partridge’s appointment brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the company. Most notably Partridge has worked as sales and new business development executive at Channel Five following stints with Light and Coley and The Harley Medical Group.

Founded in October 2002, i-vu provides interactive LCD screens to hair salons, delivering tailored content and bespoke programme packages via its 6″ x 4″ screens. Customers at salons are presented with continuous fashion, celebrity news and lifestyle programmes, as well as news and current affairs content provided by the BBC.

The company currently claims to be experiencing a period of intense growth, having tripled its staff numbers in the last year and securing several high-profile advertising contracts, including those from car manufacturer BMW and FMCG giant Gillette.

Out-of-home television screens are becoming an increasingly popular medium for advertisers targeting a niche, or particularly receptive audience. Tesco recently launched its Tesco TV initiative, with tailored programming being broadcast to different parts of its stores, along with appropriate advertising (see JCDecaux Creates Dedicated Tesco TV Sales Team).

Digital media company ScreenFX has also launched a network of flat-panel screens in shopping centres across the country. The company recently signed a deal with United International Pictures to promote some of the summer’s most high-profile cinema releases, targeting consumers with leisure time to spare and cash to spend (see ScreenFX Takes Film Trailers Out Of The Cinema).
