IPC Ignite Reshuffles Advertising Structure

IPC ignite! has announced a restructuring of its advertising management team, designed to re-position its advertising business and optimise the potential of its brand portfolio.

The move will see group ad director, Karl Marsden, taking on an expanded role as group commercial director, charged with overseeing some of the company’s flagship brands, such as Nuts, NME, nme.com, Loaded, Loaded Fashion and Uncut.

Commenting on the reshuffle, Tim Brooks, managing director of IPC ignite!, said: “Karl has successfully led our ad sales operation for four years now, culminating in a superb 2004, which saw total commercial revenues rising by 19% year-on-year.”

He added: “He has also led our cross-media strategy, which saw the formation of the innovative RSVP alliance between ourselves, MTV, and Capital Radio Group. This partnership is an excellent illustration of the way in which our business is developing and changing. Karl’s new title and enhanced role is designed to reflect the leadership he is taking in driving ignite!’s commercial revenues, which are about far more than display advertising.”

Elsewhere, Sam Finlay, previously ad manager on Nuts, will be promoted to display ad director across the whole IPC ignite! portfolio. Andrew Sanders, previously head of digital sales will move to become director of ignite! media solutions and Loaded ad manager, Oliver Scull, will take on an expanded role as ad manager for Loaded and Uncut.

Andrew Goldsmith, previously deputy ad manager on Nuts, will also receive more responsibility, stepping up to the role of ad manager for Nuts and NME, while Mia Appelbrink, previously ad manager for the ignite! music titles, takes up the newly created role of ignite! music and film manager.

Finally, Miles Dunbar, previously ignite! fashion account executive makes the move to UK and international fashion manager while Michelle Burton, previously ignite!’s sales executive, becomes fashion account executive.

Explaining the benefits of the reshuffle, Marsden said: “This significant restructuring of the ignite! ad function really does unlock the potential for the brands that we’ve increasingly seen over the last few years. Our brands are uniquely placed to deliver access to some of the most savvy, discerning and hard to reach consumers in the UK in a variety of media contexts.”

He added: “Our clients are alive to the multitude of ways in which we can creatively reach them. This is a fantastically talented team and this new structure means we’re best placed to deliver highly effective communication solutions to our clients.”

IPC ignite!’s management reshuffle follows a wider reorganisation of IPC Advertising, completed at the end of last year. The move saw IPC Advertising remain a unified brand entity, but geared up towards a more unique advertising programme and greater use of tailored ad packages (see IPC Restructures Ad Management For Greater Creativity).
