ITV Sites To Show FA Cup Preliminary Rounds

ITV has signed a deal with the Football Association which will see non-league FA Cup action available to watch online.

ITV and the FA will film preliminary rounds of the FA Cup throughout August, September and October, with highlights available to watch on ITVLocal.com, ITV.com and TheFA.com.

Clubs that are not shown on these sites can upload their own club videos to ITV Local’s Grassroots Sport website.

ITV secured the TV rights to broadcast FA Cup and England matches last year (see ITV & Setanta Win FA Cup & England Home Matches), in a four year deal beginning at the start of the 2008/9 season.

ITV1 will broadcast live coverage of 16 FA Cup games per season including first pick live matches from each round, plus one exclusively live semi-final and the Final itself.

Figures recently released by the broadcaster show that average daily users to ITV.com doubled following the site’s re-launch in August last year (see Video Surge On ITV Re-Launched Sites).
