J-ET Launches On Schedule In Manchester And Leeds

J-ET, the UK’s only electronic trading and accountability system for commercial radio campaigns, launched on schedule in Manchester and Leeds earlier this week.

At 9:45am on Monday morning Stella O’Reilly of Feather Brooksbank in Manchester posted the first campaign brief from a non-London agency. Within minutes she had received the requested responses from a number of Manchester sales points.

The Manchester offices of Capital, Chrysalis, Emap, First Radio, Impact, Opus and Virgin have all been on board on from day one, with GMG Radio expected to join them in the next few weeks. Agencies currently using the system include Brilliant, Feather Brooksbank, MEC and MediaVest.

Peter Charlton, sales director LRG at GWR and a member of the J-ET management executive, commented: “Manchester and Leeds agencies are a thriving radio market, so we are delighted that J-ET will now be able to offer these companies and their clients the proven benefits that come with being subscribers to the service.”

The full J-ET system launched in London in October 2002 and now has ten sales points and 16 agency subscribers in London. J-ET was developed by MediaTel Group and is owned by JICRIT Ltd, a joint partnership between the CRCA and the IPA.

Robin Angell, managing director of JICRIT, added: “This is another major step forward for the J-ET product. The regional launch has been in planning and testing for the last 12 months, so we are delighted to launch today on schedule and look forward to first consolidating here, and then extending the use of J-ET further in the next 6-12 months.”

Earlier this year Kent Messenger Group became the latest company to subscribe to the J-ET trading system. With six stations in Kent and an aim to grow its national business, Kent Messenger Group saw J-ET as key to accelerating that expansion (see Kent Messenger Joins Radio Industry’s Trading System).
