Coca-Cola has signed a strategic partnership agreement with JCDecaux, encompassing the design of future sites, deployment of new technology and access to the outdoor giant’s most prestigious advertising locations.
The agreement, Coca-Cola’s first UK wide-deal, covers the advertising of its full range of brands including Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Coca-Cola Zero, Powerade and Schweppes.
Coca-Cola will be the first advertiser to use a network of posters developed by JCDecaux as a replacement for traditional paper and paste billboards.
Known as ‘High Definition’ for the clarity of display, the posters are made from a new form of vinyl that can be recycled into products such as traffic cones, buckets or even water butts.
The ‘High Definition’ posters can also be reused, thanks to an innovative design that allows them to be clipped in and out of the billboard frame.
Coca-Cola and JCDecaux have worked closely on the selection of sites, which will include the M4 Torch, the 32 metre-high advertising superstructure and large format billboards. All large-format billboards will carry an illuminated Coca-Cola company branding badge.
Cathryn Sleight, marketing director, Coca-Cola GB, said: “The strategic outdoor network for CCGB will be a powerful communications vehicle that will deliver a consistent brand presence using large format, excellent quality sheetage at premium locations.
“The development of the first reusable and recyclable posters is a significant step in the environmental progress of outdoor advertising and we’re delighted to be a part of that.”
Spencer Berwin, managing director of sales at JCDecaux, said: “We are proud to be working with the Coca-Cola company to help achieve their communication objectives.
“This partnership has challenged us to raise our game even more. We are very excited about the development of HD posters, which we believe sets a new standard in the industry in terms of recyclability and the quality of display.”
