Jordan North boosts Capital Breakfast

Global’s Capital Breakfast saw a spike in listenership in Q2 following the addition of Jordan North, according to the latest figures from Rajar.

North replaced Roman Kemp in April and his insertion into the line-up alongside Chris Stark and Siân Welby has resulted in a 10.2% quarter-on-quarter increase in weekly reach to 2.8m.

Fellow Global station Heart, whose breakfast show features Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston, retained title of top-performing commercial radio show during the breakfast time slot. Heart Breakfast with Jamie and Amanda grew its weekly reach 7.6% year on year to 4.2m.

The biggest overall radio show by weekly reach, however, remains BBC Radio 2’s The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, despite a 4.5% annual decline in reach to 6.4m. It is followed by BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, which had a weekly reach of 5.4m.

In London, there was a notable shift at the top of the chart as Capital London overtook Heart London as the breakfast programme with the largest weekly reach. Capital London grew weekly reach by 21.1% from Q1, compared with 2.2% growth for Heart London.
