Laura Desmond resigns from Publicis Groupe

After taking an extended sabbatical to deal with a family health matter, Publicis Groupe’s chief revenue officer, Laura Desmond, has announced her plans to leave at the end of the year.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Desmond said she was grateful to everyone for their support during her leave and that the family health issue had improved significantly.

“This sabbatical allowed me to consider where my greatest entrepreneurial and leadership opportunity existed,” she said. “After thoughtful reflection and discussions with [CEO] Maurice [Levy], I have concluded this is the right step for me.

“I leave the Groupe with nothing but thanks and appreciation for the opportunities and support I’ve received throughout my career and during my leave.”

Desmond had been on a leave of absence since July 1, 2016. Since that time her responsibilities had been coordinated by Rishad Tobaccowala, who will continue in the role as strategy and growth officer.

Desmond was appointed CRO in December 2015 after serving as global CEO of Starcom Mediavest Group, working with brands including Samsung, Bank of America, Visa and Coke.
