Management Reshuffle For Global Radio

Global Radio Ahead of Global Radio’s integration of the GCap Media business it bought earlier this year, the group has created five agency sales teams, one client sales team and one interactive sales team spanning the two companies.

Don Thomson, currently Global Radio chief operating officer, will take on the role of acting group commercial director until incoming radio chief executive of Global Radio, Stephen Miron, takes up his post in the New Year.

Thomson will then revert to his original role and report to Miron.

John Legg, Global Radio operations sales director, has been appointed business development director, with John McGeough, GCap Media’s former trading and business development director, becoming trading director of the combined group, overseeing all aspects of Global Radio airtime trading, deal management, systems, traffic and scheduling.

The integrated sales team will be called Global Radio Sales, with each sales team led by an account director. The seven account directors – a mix of former Global Radio and GCap Media staff – are understood to be organising their sales teams over the next two weeks.

Ed Chalmers, Dan Durling, Dom Barker and Jennie Stubbs will head the four agency sales teams responsible for the main agency network and will all report to Don Thomson. Mark Burl will head the agency sales group, Ali Page will head the client sales team and Paul Sigaloff will lead the interactive sales team.

A separate eight-strong sales team will remain to look after Classic FM. The new role of Classic FM sales director will be filled by Nikki Tye, a former Global Radio account director. The rest of Global’s brands will be sold across the newly created sales teams.

In addition, Classic FM managing director Darren Henley and Capital 95.8 boss Paul Jackson have been given new roles at parent company Global Radio.

Henley has been appointed director of brand innovations across Global Radio, while continuing in his role at Classic FM and overseeing London urban music station, Choice FM.

Jackson, managing director of Capital 95.8, moves to the new role of group programme director for the London station, as well as the seven-strong Hit Music Network.

Richard Park, Global executive director, will oversee programming on the expanded Heart and Galaxy dance network of stations.

Will Harding becomes group strategy and development director, while Robin Pembrooke has been appointed director of online and interactive across Global.

Global Radio chief operating officer, Don Thomson, becomes acting commercial director until a permanent appointment is announced.
