MegaPoster Beats Rivals To Edinburgh Banner Contract

MegaPoster has seen off tough competition from rivals Clear Channel and Blow-Up Media to secure the giant-banner advertising contract for Edinburgh.

The three to five year deal gives MegaPoster exclusive rights to install giant banners on suitable properties undergoing refurbishment in the city. It is expected that up to twelve new advertising sites will be erected in the area each year.

The win represents the first time that Edinburgh has awarded contract to a single operator, having previously conducted business on an ad-hoc basis. It is also the first major banner contract to come up for pitch since Mega-Profile began winding up this summer (see Mega Profile Rumoured To Be In Takeover Talks).
Commenting on the win, Ian Bohn, sales and marketing director of MegaPoster UK, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this contract, which was the result of a team effort across the company, both on a national and local level. It is an endorsement of our decision to work closely with local authorities.”

Edinburgh’s status as a world heritage site means that the local authority has previously imposed strict guidelines on poster advertising, restricting banners to just 15% of scaffolding sites. However, MegaPoster has a reputation for working closely with planners in a number of key cities including Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow.
Earlier this month MegaPoster won an appeal against Hammersmith and Fulham Council’s refusal to grant express consent for an advertising screen on a façade at 11 Bank Buildings in Fulham Broadway. The appeal was won after the company agreed that income from advertisements would contribute to the costs of cleaning and restoring the building (see MegaPoster Wins Appeal Against London Councils).
