Megaposter Signs Sony For Shoreditch Site

Giant poster firm Megaposter has secured mobile phone manufacturer Sony Ericsson to launch a campaign to promote the launch of its new T630 cameraphone.

The large format billboard featuring the phone has been erected on Shoreditch High Street to maximise exposure to the area’s clubbing and drinking district, frequented regularly by the young, style-conscious Londoners that the brand is targeting.

Megaposter claims the site benefits from massive traffic flow with 2.1 million vehicles passing through Shoreditch High Street and Great Eastern Street. Visibility is also enhanced by the prolonged dwell time delivered by nearby traffic lights.

Commenting on the new placement, Ian Bohn, sales and marketing director of Megaposter, said: “Shoreditch is the perfect environment for launching this phone and the site will deliver tremendous impact and reach in terms of the brand’s target audience.”

Outdoor advertising has seen a bumper year so far, with the market finally attaining a 10% share of advertising spend in the UK. The future also appears rosy as the sector looks forward to growth, particularly with new technology such as giant outdoor TV screens (see Outdoor Results Show Record Growth And Market Share).

Elsewhere in the giant poster market, Nomad, a relatively unknown outdoor advertising company has made inroads into the Irish market with the acquisition of five prime sites in Belfast, opening the city up to the prospect of large format poster advertising (see Nomad Acquires Giant Poster Sites In Ireland).
