According to the RAJAR data, those aged 15-24 are most likely to own an MP3 player, with 49.1% of the demographic claiming to own the technology, up by almost 11% points period on period.

In general demand for MP3 players drops off as the age of consumers increases, however, even those aged 65 and above are seen possessing the technology, with 8.4% of the demographic now in possession of an iPod or similar device.

RAJAR’s figures do not take into account ownership of MP3 equipped mobile phones however, the inclusion of which would most likely push figures even higher, given that most modern handsets are able to act as rudimentary portable media players.
