MTV In Online Video Deal With Google

Google Logo Viacom’s MTV networks has entered a partnership with Google which will see its video programming become accessible via Google’s affiliated websites and blogs.

Starting as a test run at the end of the month, members of Google’s AdSense advertising network will be able to install a video player on their websites which will allow them to show clips from MTV shows such as Laguna Beach and SpongeBob SquarePants.

The clips, of between two and four minutes duration, will also see MTV Networks sell advertising based on the video, with proceeds shared with Google and the individual websites.

The rise of broadband has seen video sites such as YouTube become hugely popular and the offering will also enhance Google’s AdSense site by adding video to the text and images already available.

Last month Google launched eight country-specific versions of its video-sharing community website, Google Video (see Google Set To Challenge MySpace And YouTube).
