Nomad Acquires Giant Poster Sites In Ireland

A relatively unknown outdoor advertising company is making inroads into Ireland with the acquisition of five prime sites in Belfast, opening the city up to the prospect of large format poster advertising.

Nomad Media International has bought the five sites, situated on the sides of several prominent city centre buildings, in a move which will target Belfast’s up and coming trend-setters in the ABC1 market.

Banner packages on the sites range from 150 square metres to 400 square metres. Commenting on the company’s latest acquisition, Stuart Dargue, managing director of Nomad Media said: “Belfast will be an excellent opportunity for any advertiser to launch a new product in one dynamic swoop.”

The move follows a number of key developments in outdoor advertising, Megaposter UK has been busy extending its portfolio of sites, while ScreenFX is preparing to launch a network of 175 giant plasma screens in ten locations with the potential to deliver an audience of 200 million shoppers to advertisers (see ScreenFX Prepares Largest Ever Plasma Screen Network).

Outdoor advertising as a whole is seeing an upturn, with the sector edging ever closer to controlling a record 10% market share. Last month saw outdoor revenue top £225 million in the three months to December, a total that is unprecedented in the UK and shows the industry bucking the current trend of advertising slump (see Outdoor Results Show Record Growth And Market Share).
