Piczo Appoints UK Director

Internet Piczo, a social networking site for teenagers, has appointed Chris Seth as managing director responsible for the UK and expansion into Europe.

Seth joins Piczo from Richmond Events where he was managing director for UK and European operations.

His background includes senior management roles at BBDO’s digital agency Proximity, Time Out Group, and the International Herald Tribune.

His first task at Piczo will be to develop a range of strategic partnerships with leading brands, and help them capitalise on the unique access Piczo has to the teen market.

Seth will appoint directly to Jeremy Verba, chief executive officer of Piczo and will start in early October.

Verba said: “Chris’s appointment marks a major step forward for Piczo as a business. Hiring a senior executive of this calibre underscores the importance of the UK market to Piczo both as a base for revenue growth and as its jumping off point to the rest of Europe.

“Chris’s experience as a UK media executive and his proven track record in expanding successful businesses into new territories gives Piczo a perfect executive blend to accelerate its growth.”

Seth said: I’m thrilled to be joining Piczo at such an exciting time. For such a young business, the site has created a uniquely strong bond with its users and is in the enviable position of reaching over 60% of the young teen demographic in the UK. That relationship has strong appeal for leading brands and advertisers who are scrambling for effective ways to engage with this increasingly elusive demographic.

“Piczo already has impressive reach in several other European countries which gives the company a growth trajectory that I’m familiar with and excited to help develop.”
