Radio Times Plans Web Relaunch With Added Content

Visitors to Radio Times online will benefit from several new features, as well as a new look, from tomorrow as the website seeks to create the most comprehensive online guide to television, radio and film in the UK.

The online overhaul is the result of extensive research into the needs of current users and include an expansion of the highlights section for televisiomn and radio. Previously only available for the day, the section will now provide weekly listings of the best broadcasts in Britain.

In addition the website will give users more chances to personalise which listings are presented, with simplified options enabling visitors to view broadcast schedules by platform, isolating channels available on Sky, Freeview and NTL.

The new RadioTimes.com features listings information for 367 television and radio channels 14 days in advance, and includes a Film Review Database with over 24,000 movies rated and reviewed

Commenting on the redesign, Rebecca Woodward, BBC Magazines’ head of new media, said: “RadioTimes.com is a fantastic example of how a website can complement a magazine brand and still offer visitors something extra and original. The redesign has both enhanced the overall look of the website and also allowed us to make the site even more comprehensive and easy to use.”

According to the latest ABC Electronic audit, the website attracts more than 10 million page impressions per month, with over 356,000 unique users. However, the website’s parent magazine has seen s decline in circulation, losing 4.8% year on year in the six months to June. The title currently commands a circulation of just over 1.1 million.
