Sky Launches TV On-Demand Service

Sky Launches TV On-Demand Service

Sky Box BSkyB’s video downloads service, Sky Anytime, has now launched on television, allowing users access to 30 hours of on-demand programming.

Anytime on TV stores shows on the Sky platform and gives viewers a week to either watch or store shows through their Sky+ box.

Sky has made Anytime available to HD customers first, with the service set to roll out to other subscribers within weeks (see Sky Anytime Moves To TV In March).

Sky launched Anytime on mobile and PC last year. In January it delivered its one-millionth download after a year in operation (see Sky Anytime Reaches One Million Downloads).

Rival Virgin Media, which Sky has been locked in battle with since its acquisition of a large stake in ITV (see Sky Anytime? Not For Virgin Media Cable Homes), already has a TV on-demand service called Virgin Central, which it launched in early February (see Virgin Media Launches Today).
