SUBtv Sparks Summer Ad Sales With Airtime Auction

SUBtv Logo Student TV network SUBtv is to inject a little excitement into the lives of media planners and buyers this summer, with the launch of a specialist auction website to enable bidding on a one week campaign through its network.

The initiative is designed to spark competition between agencies, with the campaign up for grabs usually carrying a ratecard price of £26,000.

Bidding in each auction will start four weeks in advance and close on the Wednesday night prior to the copy deadline.

Explaining the innovative selling tactic, Peter Miles, chief executive of SUBtv, said: “This will be a fun feature for the summer and appeal to the well-known gaming instincts and hunger for getting a good deal that marks out ambitious planners and buyers.”

SUBtv’s network of 700 plasma screens spans 90 universities in the UK, reaching 1.65 million students aged 18-24 each week.

Last month saw SUBtv launch a special World Cup package, offering advertisers sponsorship opportunities around the 63 matches screened by the network. Each package will run for four weeks, with 22.5 minutes of guaranteed exposure for advertisers in every match, utilising the broadcaster’s screen sidebar (see SUBtv Offers World Cup Sponsorship Packages).
