Telegraph Group Records £12 Million Operating Loss

The Telegraph Group made an operating loss of £12.1 million in the year to January 1 2006, following the £45.8 million cost of relocating to new offices and restructuring.

The £45.8 million was made up of £32.2 million in relocation expenses and £13.6 million for the cost of reorganisation, which included redundancies.

Turnover at the Telegraph Group was £322.8 million, up by just £1.4 million.

Advertising revenue dropped 4%, whilst revenue from copy sales was up 2%. Other revenues, which includes new media and reader offers, was up 9%.

Operating profit increased very slightly, up by £0.6 million from £33.1 million to £33.7 million.
